Remembrance Day at K-W Bilingual School

assembly.  There was a moment of silence, poems and readings and some songs, including “In Flanders Fields” and John Rutter’s “Lest We Forget.”

Many thanks to the   ever-faithful Mrs. Klarke for accompanying the students.

In recognition of the universal importance and gravity of Remembrance Day, the entire school gathered on November 11 for our first-ever Remembrance Day

With all the emphasis on music in our school already, we’re delighted to announce even more enrichment! Mrs. Rieder, herself a musician, has begun a string ensemble which rehearses Mondays at lunch hour. There are six  violinists currently in the group, and “we are learning to play as an ensemble,” reports Mrs. Rieder. “So far we have played   duets, trios, and canons.

Soon we will be playing holiday music and quartets.”

Would your child like to join? Violinists, violists, and cellists with at least one year's experience with their instrument, who are  KW Bilingual students in Grades 3 to 8 are eligible. There is no cost to join because it is an extracurricular activity of the school. Contact Mrs. Rieder in January.

Leahy Orchestra Update

Students of the private music program at our school have a treat  in store for everyone.    Music students and members of the new orchestra,  together with their instructors, are gearing up their Holiday Music Concert on December 15th. A musical evening you won’t want to miss!

Congratulations to our last year’s Grade 3 and 6 students for their excellent showing in the EQAO test results, which were    released earlier this month. Details of our school’s results, as compared with the province-wide average ,as well as the average of the public and Catholic  school boards in Waterloo Region, are posted

on the bulletin board near the school office.

Parents of students who took the test last year  are invited to meet with teachers to discuss their child's individual results  in more detail.

We do not "teach to the test," but we believe in our challenging and   enriched curriculum, and in our hard-working teachers, assistants and

students. We are extremely proud of the children's   results, as    we always have been in the past.
