Transportation

Families with children in the school routinely form car pools for getting the children to school in the morning and picking them up in the evening. City bus service directly to the school entrance is available via the Hallman Road Line.

The Extended School Day

For the benefit of those families where neither parent can be with the children after school, a program of supervised study and play is available each day from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. This program is available at modest cost on either an occasional or regular basis.

The House System

In order to encourage interaction across age levels and to develop leadership skills especially in the upper grades, students in Grades 3 through 8 are organized into “houses”. A senior student in “House Captain” and a teacher is “House Mentor”. Houses meet every third week. The Captain plans and prepares an activity decided upon in consultation with the Mentor and the other members. These activities may be crafts, games, cooking, seasonal events, a guest speaker, or a sports challenge to another House. Twice a year, a half-day is devoted exclusively to House Activities.
